Music has a special place in Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg.
The school choir and music group hold weekly practice. There is a great demand for traditional music especially for concerts, Confirmation and Communion and for any other special occasions. Students learn and play a wide variety of instruments including the fiddle, concertina, box, tin whistle, piano, harp and guitar. There is an emphasis on traditional and some sean-nós singing. A number of teachers have a very strong interest in music and attend these music sessions themselves. Their passion for music is reflected in the standard of music in the school. Huge credit is due to our students for their hard work and loyalty to music in our school over the years.
Choirs, music groups, ballad groups etc. from the school participate in Féile na hInse and the Coiste have given us enormous encouragement in this regard. The Féile is a very important support to the the Gaelscoil in that it gives the children a platform to participate in activities through Irish.
The children enjoy participating in these events and it is a great source of confidence for themselves and their parents.
